Need A Tagline For An Upcoming Workshop

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
The workshop is called "Gather." The event will host speakers from various areas of business that creative entrepreneurs struggle with (e.g. contracts-lawyer, finance mgmt-accountant, etc). This event will be unique and not near as dull, dry or boring as it sounds. We have some fun ideas that we are throwing in between the speakers. As far as the tagline goes here are some of words I've played around with: Creatives, Collaborating, Purpose, Change, Challenges, Connections, etc. These words do not have to be used. They were just my starting point. Thank you for all of your time and help. Ask any questions!!

Where will this workshop be held?
Who specifically is likely to attend? Why?
What problems do these people face that this workshop is the solution for?
How long will this workshop be?
    What's the meaning behind "Gather"?

It will be help at a cool and trendy pub. In their main room. Very casual. Open dialogue. Speakers will not be using PowerPoint- this is an example of the vibe we are trying to create. Specifically it will be attended by entrepreneurs in the wedding industry. I have worked in this industry for last 6 years. Why will they attend IS due to the problems they face. They are experts at their craft (e.g. Photographers, florists, hair and makeup, etc.), but when it comes to the business side of things they all struggle. I am aiming to help resolve some of this struggle. The workshop is one day. 8-4. The meaning behind gayer is pretty self explanatory. That we will gather together on that day and learn, collaborate and encourage each other - connection over completion. I can't use that phrase despite it being great- everyone uses that phrase around here. Especially in the wedding industry. I would really appreciate your assistance!! Thanks!!!

I somehow accidentally closed this question with only two responses. Can you reopen it please!!!

I appreciate those last two but they are not in the direction I'm looking to go. I want something more on the creative spectrum. Take a look at the list of words I said I was considering and go from there please.

"I want something more on the creative spectrum." While a string of loosely connected words is one thing, your idea of creative sounds like something else. Could you be more specific?

I don't understand how you would evaluate our suggestions. If we come up with a dozen tagline candidates, what criteria will you use to pick a winner? Without that kind of direction it's unlikely we'll meet your expectations. We don't even know exactly what they are.

Compounding this, I suspect we'd want to explain "Gather" somehow. The word doesn't immediately communicate any of the words you've listed ... and it certainly doesn't stand alone to explain what the workshop is about or what benefit attendees can expect. Do you really think a tagline can save this situation?

P.S. What is "the creative spectrum?" I haven't come across this phrase before.

Wow, I feel like I'm getting attacked a bit here. I am happy to answer any questions and give as clear of direction as I'm able, but I must request that the comments be more respectful, please. I am just trying to figure this out and do not claim to have written exactly the right thing or given the correct answers. I will think about your questions and reply later tonight. Thank you.

I'm sorry if anything I wrote felt like an attack. I think we are just a little lost regarding what the objective is and what you are trying to communicate. Usually the name and tagline are developed together (since they are usually seen together), and this is a case in which the name has already been determined, and you now need a tagline to "save" the name in terms of communication value.

Maybe you can start by telling us why you want a tagline and what you want it to communicate.

    Hello,
What I meant by "creative spectrum" is that any tagline that are dry, not exciting or too business-y will not work for my guests. The attendees are creative types, hence any tagline that makes the workshop sound like a boring business event will completely be a turnoff for my attendees. Ideal clients for this event are: florists, bloggers, photographers, wedding planners, tattoo artists, writers, and artists. I hope this is helping by my being more specific.

Gather (v): to bring together for a specific purpose. Thats exactly what we are doing with this workshop. Gathering creatives of all types for a day of education, fun and collaboration. I am looking for a catchy tagline. There will always be a description of the event associated with the logo and tagline. Therefore, the tagline is not necessarily being used to tell guests what they will "learn" from the event, but more so to catch their attention. This is another reason/way to support the tagline being more catchy and less straight business! I am under no such impression that my workshop needs to "be saved" by this tagline. Not at all. I could honestly not have a tagline at all and just rely on the description. However, I think the right spunky, outside the box (normal) tagline could really grab the attention of the guests.

Hope this helps, but I will happily answer any additional questions that would be of assistance. Cheers!

Is there a point to the last comment?? I've used this service before with great success, but this time I am having a very different experience. And the negativity I'm feeling is from a staff member nonetheless. To say the least I'm surprised and disappointed.

To clarify, I am NOT a staff member or an employee of MarketingProfs. And I am truly sorry you are feeling negativity. I will not make further comments on this thread.

The point of the last post was to reinforce the thought that "gather" is not at all specific to your mission. Any meeting or conference or workshop could be called "gather" and still not communicate a benefit or target audience. I guess I thought that would be self-evident.

I hope you get what you are looking for from the members of this forum, and that "Gather" is a huge success.
