Want To Follow Me On Twitter?

Posted by ReadCopy on 5000 Points
Do you use Twitter? Twitter is absolutely free (https://twitter.com/BusinessGo).

I am feeling generous, so this 'Question' comes with three benefits for you:

1. You'll get free business advice from me
2. It will introduce you to how great Twitter is and how you can use it to keep in touch with friends, colleagues and clients
3. Sign up to follow me for FREE Business Advice here: https://twitter.com/BusinessGo, let me know you have done it by posting a reply here and you'll get a share of these 5000 points when the question is closed :-)

Three ways to win - how brilliant is that!

I'm curious to see what happens where. I'm not signing up, mind you, so don't give me any points. I'm just interested in seeing where this goes.

    Where it goes? Simple really:

    1. I get an audience for my advice
    2. People who sign up will get free advice (several pieces each week)
    3. They will learn about Twitter and how it can help them network and build a more solid client base!

    Blessed Be

No, I just mean I am curious how many people take you up on this offer. Not saying that the offer itself is misleading or anything.

    Ah me too ;-)
I'll close it this time next week.

It's funny. I have people following me on twitter and I never use it. If they invite me to follow them, I follow. There must be some reason for them to ask. I'm happy to oblige.

So...I'm now following you (as "ikedunne")

    Thanks Michael, use it more!
Have more fun and follow famous people too! Try Jonathan Ross (https://twitter.com/Wossy), Russell Brand(https://twitter.com/rustyrockets) or (https://twitter.com/bobbyllew) is you are a Red Dwarf fan :-)

Yeah, I'm sort of with Randall on this one. It didn't pass the sniff test at first.

When I saw that the original poster has been on the forum for a little while, though, I took my finger off the big red button.

    Andrew,

I'm happy to follow you on Twitter, but I'd also respectfully suggest that you follow others there as well. The beauty of Twitter, as I see it, is that you can talk AND listen. Following others (as well as encouraging them to follow you) is part of the fun and usefulness of the platform.

    See you there!

This is an interesting post. What I get from it is that you don't seem to understand what Twitter is about. Perhaps I'm wrong, and you're just trying something new.

The people I follow on Twitter need to meet some minimum requirements:
    1. They need to be interesting, or relevant; preferably both.
    2. They appear to be there not to push an agenda, but to create relationships with other people.

To meet those two requirements, they need to have enough interesting posts to intrugue me, and they must be following other people.

I don't want any points - just wanted to comment.

    Thanks for the comments guys.

Maybe posting the Twitter suggestion here was wrong, but i seriously believe that this community WANTS to help other businesses.

One question that sprung to mind yesterday BEFORE I posted was that this is a place for Q&A, but what if like me you have an answer to help businesses, it's just that no-one has asked the question!

    So I posted.

I will get nothing from this, I may post links to a separate directory on my own website, but there will be no direct links to my business (I respect this place that much) - it's just an easier way to get more ideas that the 140 characters allowed.

It's also partly a social experiment on the value of a tool like Twitter to the business community, and especially in hard times such as these - the businesses I deal with need all the help they can get.

I am surprised with the lack of takeup, to be honest not that many business people really understand Social Networking as a business tool, and fewer still understand Twitter!
To be fair, this is really the only place I have promoted it so far! I did have a failed attempt on LinkedIn (Twitter let me down).

For anyone that thinks I will take advantage and BLAST self promotion stuff at followers, all I can say is that it isn't my intention, sign up, follow me, and if I ever abuse your trust, just click the button and stop following me. It's as simple as that.

There is obviously a few people people following this question now, so if your in business, whether you follow me or not on Twitter, I encourage you to set up your own account to promote your business.

    Take care everyone

Thanks Ann H. missed your post earlier.

I have a personal account on Twitter (AndrewHMScaife) and the "professional one" (BusinessGo). So absolutely going to follow you guys, but it will be from the personal one.

Thought about the merits of following others from BusinessGo and decided (maybe wrongly) that it would look more independant if I didn't follow anyone from that account!

    I love Experimental Marketing :-)

Hi Andrew -- Why is it more independent not to follow people? I'm not sure I understand your logic there.

My take: If you don't follow others, seems to me you are using it as a broadcast tool, not a conversation tool. So I'm curious about your strategy there.

    Thanks for the response --

Andrew good luck with your endeavor.

My sentiment is that this is probably not the place to post this as they usually remove people's websites from posts if they are referring to their own site (other than on critiques) even if people post sites that offer good free info.

You are correct that people usually have questions here, but I find that people who have a question tend to listen to the answers more than people who get answers and haven't asked a question. I guess when I have quesitons I search the internet. With this in mind you might start a blog or website as people will find it when they are looking for answers. I have not really used twitter, but if all your advice doesn't show up in a search it might not get found that will.

Just my thoughts, good luck to you.

    Hi Andrew,

I am following you, now you can follow me.

The business vs. personal Twitter account is a dilemma that I am confronting. I started with 1 account which has turned into a mix of business and personal tweets and have recently started a pure business account, however I'm not sure how that is going to work out because some of my Tweets are applicable to both. I'll experiment with the 2 of them and see.

That aside, I'm looking forward to your Tweets and to see where this goes as Twitter is a truly remarkable application.

Ann, I can still have a conversation with people without following them! I already have done via Twitter and it proved useful!

Mike, I just hope that they don't remove mine! The links to my Twitter pages, do not look like my business pages (I do have one small link), but the information provided is the most important part for me (example: https://www.blackwhite.uk.com/twitter/How%20PR%20can%20help%20your%20busine...)

Tim, thanks for supporting this experiment, hope your finding the Tweets interesting if a little basic for you :-)
btw, following you from my personal account now.

I signed up to your account the other day and spent the day trying to figure out the value of Twitter. It will be interesting to follow some of the people I added to follow and what value it is to me. I only heard about Twitter in October and I still can't see the point of the damn thing.
