Web Conferencing

Posted by Frank Hurtte on 125 Points
until today I have used Conferral as my web conferencing tool. Tomorrow they will shut down and go out of business.
Does anybody have a web conferencing company they use and like.
I have used Webex Placeware Microsoft in a past life but find them to be overly pricy for my very modest needs.

Any suggestions

Go to Meeting is great. Got it for $468 per year.
There is also Raindance for 38 cents per minutes and Genesys for 33 cents per minute.
PC magazine did a review on some of these services last year.

I'm very interested in this topic as well and looking forward to more comments from users... Intercall seems to have a variety of services on their web page, but I have no idea as to price or quantity...

WE use the GoTo range of products and are very happy with them. They work well, are reliable and are reasonably priced in the UK. Using their remote access software for customer support and remote demonstrations probably means that we can get a better deal though!

I’ve looked at the TTC software and whilst it appears to be a very useful low cost option, some of the FAQ’s listed have given me a few reservations – if it works on a 28K dial up connection, it left me wondering about the bandwidth provided for voice data. Admittedly, 200Hz – 3000hz is adequate for telephony, but if this is applied to a broadband connection, I would be a little worried about aliasing distortion when a bandwidth is available for the transmission. Maybe it adjusts to the faster data transfer rates on broadband, but I couldn’t find specific information about it.

I’d be inclined to give both a free trial and to do an a/b comparison. If TTC comes out well, as they have no long term contract, It’s hard to see how giving it a go would harm you.

Skype is rumoured to be looking at conferencing options, so contacting them, to see if this is on the near horizon might also be a wise move.

Do let us know what you go with. Like you, I am reviewing my options.
