Well.... that is pretty much what this whole forum is about, especially the E-Marketing section - how to market (websites in your case) to clients (and prospects).

I would suggest you start reading all the posts starting from Day One. There is better information contained in these archives than any books. magazines etc. and I have read them all (books, magazines and posts).

I would suggest also that you think of some specific questions about e-commerce and direct them at the forum because your question as phrased is too broad.

Yes..read read read!

There are so many generic e-commerce websites out there. Try to focus on an industry you know, e.g., clothing, electronics. Your knowledge of an industry will help you sell to your prospects.

Once you've had some success, take a look at ways you can adapt to new areas...maybe pool chemicals.

If you don't have ANY experience developing sites...start with some non-profits (animal shelters, hospital thrift stores) where you can do the work for free and gain valuable experience.

Selling yourself and your services without any experience is a difficult task, at best. I would suggest you start by creating your own e-commerce site and sell some products for a while. Learn how to market this new entity and its products so that you are comfortable in doing the same for others.

Maybe you have a client in mind that can handle the fulfillment and you act as thier one of their sales channels and sell thier products on consignment.

This will take you a long way in understanding how to sell your services to other companies.
