And The 49% Come Here!

Posted by ReadCopy on 50 Points
Is it something like 51% of all internet searches use Google ... so why do the remaining 49% come here without the briefest of searches on (arguably) one of the best search engines around!

I guess we have the technology to launch another browser session to search Google and KHE archives when a question is submitted ? Might be worth trying for all Student questions.

    Hi, Andrew!

Funny you should mention this. I was just telling Val that I can put the word "schmurtzlism" in a Q&A thread, and suddenly it's a Number One result in a Google search because of the traffic/ranking this site gets.

I think that's one reason people arrive here.

Another is that too many people have inadequate searching skills. From now on, when a new member posts a question that could easily be answered via Google, I'm going to suggest that they visit www.googleguide.com to learn the tips and tricks. I might also offer them some keywords to use, but I will NOT do the search for them. I think that would encouraging the misuse of a forum like this.
