My name is Ursula and I wanted to get feedback on my personal training business name. Anyone think the name Bodies By U is a catchy name for my in-home business? Thank you in advance for any and all responses.

    Ursula,

Your name is <yawn> obvious and overused. I searched for "Bodies by" in Yahoo and 13 full pages of results of names, "Bodies by" or "Body by" show up. In Google, 8 complete pages and then many more with a mix. EVERYbody since "Body by Jake" uses that. With Yahoo, TWO businesses are already present called "Body by U." Therefore, to me, your business name is as catchy as "Acme Pipes" or "AAAA Locksmiths."

Please keep in mind that the NAME of your business is pretty far down the list of things that make the business successful. Most important is meeting your customers' needs better than the competitors do. For your business, I would believe that most of your clients come from "word of mouth," not from traditional advertising. That being the case, the name of your business has much less significance. Besides that, because you are a PERSONAL trainer, YOU are the company. They are buying you, not the company. Most referring clients will refer Ursula, not your company name. Understand your target clients' needs FIRST and then offer services that address these better than competitors using your own core competencies. Once you understand and define this, the name should come about more naturally. In fact, of you would like our help, tell us these things and we can better help you with a name.

    I hope this helps.

    Well put, Wayde...

That said, Ursula Tolbert, Personal Trainer would fit the bill.

A tagline like "get yourself in shape" could work.

    What do you think?

    Good luck.

"Bodies By U" doesn't tell me at first glance what business you're in. You mention "in-home business" - are people coming to you or are you going to people's homes? If the latter, then a name that conveys "Fitness Starts At Home" would be useful.

Okay, more info to help with the name: Clients come to my home and I have a full commercial style gym set up in my daylight basement. I specialize in females looking for weight loss; general health and wellness; have had phase 3 cardiac rehab training and work closely with phase three physical therapy where a therapist releases a patient in my care to help further rehabilitate. The majority of my client, though, are stay at home moms looking for weight loss and a healthier lifestyle. I have a degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis on Adult Fitness and can do any type of training but choose to stay away from the body building arena. Thanks again for any and all feedback!
