Suggestion For Naming A Corporate "planning Team"

    What do you want the name to signify? What type of "planning team". Why do you need a name at all?

    What's the name of the company? Why not "[CompanyName] Planning Committee?"

    If we come up with a dozen possible names, how are you going to select a winner? What are the criteria? Who is the name for? What do you want to communicate in the name other than that this is a planning committee?

    In my experience, when you create a separate entity to do the planning, you alienate the senior management team that sees planning as a key part of its portfolio. They see any initiatives as coming from an "ivory tower" mindset.

    What's the thinking behind this initiative? Have you considered the silo issues you might be creating?
