Posted by cynthia.yates on 250 Points
Hi

I am from Canada and I am wondering if anyone has any cute suggestions on a business name for me that I can use for my homemade craft business. Right now im mainly making bows for little girls buy i also want to make accessories for boys too. I am looking for something not gender specific. I am not sure how to check out if a business name is already taken without just googling the domian.

AccessorizedKids.com and LittleKidStyle.com are both currently available, if interested.

Why "cute?" What message do you want the name to communicate? To whom? Where exactly?

Check out the following name generation sites. Most of them will either tell you if a name is taken, or only show available names.

www.nameboy.com (tips: 1) try many different combos. 2) do the same search 2-4 times for different results)

www.bustaname.com - lots of options and different ways to generate names

www.dotomator.com - pretty cool combos of word lists. You can add your own words to the lists to search for all kinds of combos

www.wordoid.com - creates pronouncable domain names (mostly)

www.panabee.com - Very cool. Just type in one or two key words and this thing will scramble them around and make suggestions based on synonyms and related terms. Similar to nameboy.com. Used to be free - may charge a small fee now. Not sure.

www.namestation.com - cool and helpful. Popular site with all kinds of options.

www.leandomainsearch.com - type in a word you want in your domain, and it lists available options.

    To check names for trademarks:

    - www.trademarkia.com - basic quick search and registry service for trademarks, logos, domains, etc. Warning: Do not rely on free results for launching a major brand. You need to pay them or an attorney to fully research a name for filing.

https://www.cipo.ic.gc.ca - Canadian Intellectual Property Office. Use the sesrch options and read all the fine print and warnings.

https://www.uspto.gov/trademarks/ - US Patent and Trademark Office. Use the search options and pay attention to the small print. US government websites can be tricky (big surprise).

    Hope this helps! Good Luck!
