Hi, it's Deremiah, *CPE and it’s TIME for an ---UPDATE---. Some of our members right here on this forum volunteered to help out and I appreciate it. Stevea, in the UK asked me to make sure I followed up on how things are going and even offered to help me. Juliet, in Scotland gave me a great off line tip. And Randall in Texas offered to send a check.

So here's the good news so far...in 30-days we were able to marshall up a campaign that raised 1.7 MILLION dollars. That's pretty powerful for a suburb off of Chicago. Please feel free to offer any of your own suggestions for how you'd approach a fundraiser for At-Risk Children.

The other good news is the board made a committment to insuring that the two campuses would remain OPEN and would not close. There will be some loss of jobs but this can be derailed by the fundraising campaign that is still continuing.

$300,000 of the monies above came from a campus that normally takes a whole year to raise $300,000 but they did it in 30 days. So please feel to continue to direct good thoughts, great ideas, and all your prayers toward children At-Risk in the Chicagoland area. If you know anyone connected to a corporation that would be willing to help a 501C3 organization shoot me an email. Thanks!

Remember a lot of people make the mistake and say "Children are our Future" but I beg to differ. I believe that CHILDREN are our "PRESENT". The word present has a twofold interpretation. 1.) It represents the here and now and 2.) It represents a gift. I think that children are our "Present Gift" and it's up to us to make sure that things go well with them if we expect it to end well for us...You see we take care of them when their in the "HIGHCHAIR" and they take care of us when we're in the "ROCKINGCHAIR". So don't trip...and underestimate why it's so valuable for you and me to look out for them right now. I'm building up a lot of Goodwill with children since I mentor nearly 50 every year.


Background:
I mentor about 48 of the most wonderful girls and boys you could ever meet. They come from diverse backgrounds with a demographic population of:

34% Hispanic American
26% Black American
23% White American
17% Other/Multiracial


The program the children are in is located on a residential/academic campus that pulls in children from all over the Chicagoland area. The organization has a rich legacy and Abraham Lincoln's son Robert Todd Lincoln, is one of the original founders. It is privately funded with no federal money and for good reasons.

These children are good kids being raised by single family mothers who are struggling without any support from the men who are responsible for them being here. They come from bad neighborhoods but live on the campus which has become a safe haven for most of them. After hearing about the problems the children are sad and concerned as many of them have to deal with gang activity, poor schools and mothers who are stretched trying to balance work & home and you know how that goes.

The organization they are a part of has been short on their fundraising goals and are considering cut backs or completely closing down. With nearly 15 years of sales experience I have begun to reach out to individuals who have expressed they would like to help. I have a large base of contacts, friends and the potential because of my connections to bring others into this situation.

Thanks so much for all of your input and advice. I love you and I thank you for the time you put into the 5 most intriguing Questions nearly 40 days ago. You are an amazing human being with unlimited potential and vast relationships. We are Benjamin Franklins “Junta” of this generation.

    Hey Juliet,

    You're sounding like a Customer Passion Evangelist...THANKS.

    I'm not sure how this adds up in Marketingprofs circles even though I've contributed crazy man hours toward our Marktetingprofs Customers. Maybe Allen or Roy might even want to help me in this cause...I guess you really never know until you ask.

    It's like I've said before the money isn't for me but for innercity kids who just deserve a break like the one that was given to me by major corporations like Grainger, Allied Van Lines, Nabisco & Brach's candy. If it had not been for them pitching in to pay for some of my college expenses I just don't know where I'd be right now.

    So when it comes down to corporate involvement that's what makes me proud to know that corporations will get right in there and help. As a matter of fact Juliet for a large donation I'd be willing to come and speak in various Cities, States and countries acorss the world. I'd do like the gentleman that made the "Acres of Diamonds" story quite popular during his time. You should read about it.

    A MISSION TO HELP KIDS...IT'S WORTH IT!
    Having a mission to help kids is a worthy mission to have. So I'm just ***GIVING FORWARD*** in the hopes that my efforts will serve as valuable a purpose as did the one that made a difference in my life. Jim Queen, Odell White, Swede Roskam, and Dick Jaffee, Chairman of Oil Dri Corporation of America made a tremendous difference in my life. So I'm willing to give up my fee to help kids have a better TODAY.

    THANKS for your wonderful compliments...I'm glad I can't take all the credit for this overflow of concern shown by people all across the world. I guess it does make a huge difference when you're preserving a legacy. I'll send you an email rather than post my details here online. I certainly don't want to violate any rules but Juliet's trying to find out what the guidelines are.

    OVER 120 YEARS AGO Oscar Dudley and Robert Todd Lincoln the son of ABRAHAM LINCOLN started this organization because of a little girl named Mary Ellyn who was physically abused so tragically by her parents that when Oscar had come across her she was crippled from all the destructive abuse. Most people don't see other forms of abuse as violations of childrens rights.

    I'M THE ONLY MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER MENTORING CHILDREN UP CLOSE...
    Most motivational speakers may send a check or even speak to kids in schools as long as theirs a monetary benefit but I've spent my entire adult life mentoring kids upclose and personal. It's been so rewarding to me that Nightingale Conant believes in the mission that I have and even encourage me to challenge corporations and private citizens like yourself to see the major long term advantages of mentoring kids up close and personal.

You know Hilary's from Illinois, and I've been trying to get in contact with her to see if she would be willing to go beyond quoting great proverbs to investing in the precious human cargo of life.
