Topic: Taglines/Names

Which Website Name And Tagline Do You Prefer?

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
We're a new e-commerce startup that needs feedback on a new name and tagline.

We help people save money at restaurants with half-price gift certificates. Through our service, people can have a social life without breaking the bank.

This concept has led us in the direction of chosing the name: [removed at request of author]

However, there are 2 variations we can use which both sound identical:

[removed at request of poster]

Naturally, [removed by author] refers to the social, community-driven aspect of a honeybee. Using this name could lead to an interesting use of a hive, honeybomb, or bee as the brand icon. However, this may be "too cute."

With [removed at author's request], there really isn't anything that comes to mind as an "icon" that could be used for the brand. However, it does imply the action of being social with friends and family.

Which do you prefer?

Also, as for taglines, which are your top 2 picks:

"Become a socialite."
"Enrich your life."
"Enjoy life more affordably."
"Just spend less."
"Live like a socialite."
"Sweet savings."
"Sweet deal."

Thanks everyone! I look forward to your valuable insight and feedback.

If both domains names are available, register them both. It's cheap insurance to avoid future grief (don't forget BSocial.com, if it's available).

However, both BeSocial and BeeSocial aren't really what your benefit is - it's dining out cheaply. By eating out I'm not necessarily being social - I'm simply not having to shop, cook, and clean for my meal.

You can name your business anything you want. Ideally, the name should quickly give the prospect a clear idea of what you do, or you'll have to educate them that your name really means something else. "Half-Price Dining Club" may not be as sexy a name, but people quickly grasp your business. The more you ask people to do to figure you out (read our tagline, our website, our brochure) the more likely you are to lose them as prospect.

With that said, bees aren't intrinsically connected to restaurants, so you'd have to spend a little time creating the proper connection in people's minds. However, it's cute and can work for you.

Taglines should definitely incorporate the benefit. Therefore, "Just spend less" and "Enjoy life more affordably" are closer. Perhaps, "Dine For Less. Enjoy Life More"?

Definitely BeSocial (and bSocial as Jay recommended)

For the tagline: "Just spend less."

    best of luck,

I like "BeSocial" and "Enrich your life". "Enrich" makes me think of "make better" but also "rich".

With BeeSocial, I think you'd constantly have to remind people that it's "bee with 2 Es".

I think the bee logo works with BeSocial and Beesocial.

    BeSocial.com
People wont get confused/ticked off in spelling of be.
And they'll get the social bee.

    Enjoy life more affordably."
    "Just spend less."

I LOVE the bee-- and can see ads with the bee flitting resturant to restaurant -- like flower to flower. I love BEE social. But 86 the rest, they don't fit in. BEE social is enough said.

well depends on what personality you want to build your brand towards

Bee is more of 'happening' -

Be is more of a conservative as compared to Bee

BeeSocial has more fun into it and much more possibility for the future. The spelling might be an issue unless you have both and redirect, people will then notice the Bees flying around.

"Enjoy life more affordably" as you still want to enjoy. Just pressing on the cost reduction side may push you to be cheap, which is not the same.

If you go for the bees maybe you can play with it ever on the honey sweet side or enjoy without being stung....

I would say the BeSocial.com would be the best for your company. Even though you will have both sites redirect you may still have the difficulties establishing this intentional spelling error in people's minds. Plus as you and many others have mentioned you can still use a bee or bee related logos for your brand identity.

As for a slogan, I really like the "Sweet deal" point. I would think that it would make more sense with more to it like:

    Giving You The Sweetest Deals
    Get The Sweet Deals Here

You get the idea... My reason for this is that it would move well with your thoughts on bee, as to the fact that bees make sweet honey. Best of luck with the business!

    Regards,
    Philip

Though I might want to save, I'd want to feel I'm buying something classy, not something clever or cute. I'd be careful about using the bee. I want the food and service to be high quality at a low price.

I'd buy beesocial, besocial, and bsocial, but I'd use bsocial.com. Though it takes notice, it also says "pay attention to me." It has logo potential and the right logo could offer the feeling of a being part of an exclusive club. That could raise the perception to the level of an Platinum-level service at a regular person fee.

Folks who use this service are aware of how they spend money so value -- more than price -- is important to them.

Tagline: be smart, be saving, be social . . . be smiling

    What a fun endeavor!

    Hi,
I liked the bsocial for it's logo potential, that was why.

With the bee, I worry that the Honey Nut Cherrios Bee and other such logos are too pervasive . . . Bees also conjure up Spelling bees, quilting bees, I immediately thought of "home cooking."

I like BeSocial.com precisely because it's a natural phrase; there's nothing forced about it. To me it works beautifully with your bee imagery (just as the gecko works for Geico). For a tagline, I'd add the following to the mix:

Life Is Busy. Keep It Sweet.
    Sweeten Your Day.
    Sweeten Your Schedule.
Sweet Savings For Your Busy Life.
    Busy Life. Sweet Savings.
Sweet Deals For Your Busy Life.
    Smell The Roses.

    hi BeSocial

i actually preferred BeeSocial over BeSocial. BSocial is a no-no from me. but since you have already mentioned that you are not taking BeeSocial rather BeSocial yet i would suggest you keep the Bee logo. its not too cute but will positively help you position the brand. like others have mentioned i can also visualize some campaigns using the Bee logo like a bee moving from one mall to another, one restaurant to another ;-0

on the taglines, my preferrences are..
    "Enrich Your Life"
    "Sweet Deal"

your other taglines using socialite will not convey the actual brand propostion while using affordable will actually take away the possible interest in the brand.

    hope this helps.

    cheers!!
