Name Needed For Upfront Parking Program

Posted by Anonymous on 1250 Points
Need a catchy, fun name for an Upfront Parking Program for a shopping center. Customers can park close in by paying a small fee. It isn't Valet parking but in shopping centers where close in spaces are hard to find, the idea is this would provide a premium space for a small price. Convenience is also a part of this service.

    April -

This is one you can easily make incomprehensible by making it overly cute -- I would personally suggest keeping it simple.

    Maybe something like:

    Easy Shop Parking
    No Hassle Parking
    VIP Parking
    Front Row Parking
    Too Easy Parking
    Preferred Parkers (or Parking) Club
    Treat Yourself Parking
    Always in Front Parking
    Happy Parkers Club

It also might be good to incorporate the price: $2 No Hassle Parking.

Is there any practical way to sell passes? Then you could brand it as the Happy Parkers Club or the VIP Parkers' Club. Anything with Club in the title helps with appealing to that higher-end customer -- they love to belong to clubs that not everyone can get into.

    Good luck!

Excellent ideas everyone. I have just submitted a list to the executives of some of these ideas and more. I will let you all know which ones they like and award the points. Keep the ideas coming if anyone has more. We haven't settled on one or even our top 3 yet.

Do you have a profile of your target audience? What kind of shopping mall is this? Where is it located?

Have you done some research among the people who shop at the mall frequently to see what they think and say about the concept of premium parking spots? You may get some ideas (for a name) from what they've said.

I'd think it would be important to figure out whether it's the exclusive nature of the concept or the convenience (not too much walking), or the time-saving aspect, or the "guaranteed" close-in spot during peak hours, or something else.

Otherwise, how will you know if the name you select is really on-target for your prime target audience? Or are you asking us to figure this out with tea leaves? Has any other mall done this that you know of? Maybe you can learn something from them.

The input you've gotten so far is good, but it's based on some assumptions WE are making ... and who knows how many of us are really in your target audience?

Mgoodman - great questions and good points... The shopping centers are located in the southeast. We are testing 6 centers in a variety of markets. Customer research was done and some ideas were gathered from there. This is about convenience. However, there is always the secondary customer who sees this as elitist and will park there for that reason only. I totally agree with your reasoning. There is a decision maker involved in this program and this is his pet project. his background is not marketing so while our first list was heavily based on research and clever marketing, they were not "creative" enough. I hope that clarifies a bit of the situation. I sent the list of ideas last night and I am awaiting to hear the response so I can reward the points. Flash Parking was a good suggestion too. I'll hold that just in case in wants us to brainstorm on round 3.

Some good names listed. My last employer (national big box retailer) we had this for express pickup customers that had purchased items on our web site. Couple things to consider would include maximum time, obviously you want customers to stay long and shop (and purchase) but depending on how many slots you have allocated, you want to ensure they are available as needed.

    Couple Names:
    1. In and Out
    2. Premier Parking
    3. Prime Time Parking
    4. VIP Parking

Good luck, keep us posted to outcome.

I guess you're offering a service so people can jump the queue...

    Queue Jumpers Car Parking?

If this service is to be offered at a mall in the US I guess you may need to rephrase that. Does anyone in the US use the word "queue"? They used to "stand in line" when I lived there.

So maybe it's "Line Jumpers Parking".

Or "Park. Shop. Go. Fast." to describe the sequence of events to be undertaken by the person in a hurry.

It's car parking for people who have an aversion to car parking.

    Good luck with it.

Several people have mentioned VIP. I like this as an acronym, The VIP Lot ( Very Important Parking Lot ).
  • Posted by NovaHammer on Member
A chance to feel like a VIP for everyone at a modest price I'm sure but how about some visible sign for easy ID by Mall Staff and general public when vehicle is elsewhere?

Again a version of my above suggestion.

'NoQ4Me" on a window decal or car plate braggs about your service and says it all!
