Ppc Campaign Becoming Unmanageable

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I started the paid search campaigns from the ground up for a university with several campuses and now the campaigns have grown to the point where they are unmanageable. I utilize a bid management tool to aid in some tasks but I'm getting bogged down with the keyword lists. I'm not finding a lot of advice about managing large campaigns, anyone know of someone I can chat with to discuss my challenges?

Thanks!

    Dear bschmitz,

This sounds like a job for excellira (Greg Hill) who, if you're lucky, will answer your question here (he's been a contributor to this forum since September 2006). Or, you can track him down via his website: www.excellira.com (he's the Managing Director).

    I hope this helps.

    Two thoughts:

First, Tim Pepper, one of the experts on this forum, knows this stuff cold. He's the right person for you. (Click on "Pepper Blue" in the column at the right.)

Second, you may want to cut back on the paid search campaigns and increase the conversions you get by using carefully crafted landing paths. The net result will be a decreased workload for you as manager of the program, substantially better performance (however you measure that), and lower costs.

For more information on that you probably need to read Honest Seduction and/or visit the website for ion interactive.

Another option is to switch the management to an SEO/SEM agency or use an ad exchange network like AdBrite (www.adbrite.com) which will continually automate and optimize to budget based on keywords, demographics, etc.

    Hi bschmitz,

Michael gave you great advice. Increasing conversions with specific landing pages is essential with any PPC program.

Managing a large PPC campaign can become well, unmanageable, if you aren't controlling the right levers, knobs and switches.

I have managed the PPC campaigns for 3 large (huge) state universities and I would be willing to chat with you about my experience with them, contact me by clicking through on my name.
