Fancy Facebook Welcome/demo Page For Company

Posted by KathyAd on 250 Points
I have noticed some companies have a fancy Welcome page on Facebook. For example, if you go the FB page for LogMeIn, they have a very fancy-looking page with graphics and marketing messaging. Their Wall is a different page.

So I have two questions: (1) Does anyone know how/where in FB you go to do this? (2) What do you think of this approach? (As a marketer, I really like it, but then I wonder if it's too salesy.)

Regardless, if you know how to set this up, please let me know. I am curious and would like to experiment with it.

I have also seen this type of treatment on the FB page for Hubspot (but it's not done as well), and GoToMeeting.

Thanks for any input!

    Interesting question.

Just under "LogMeIn" it says "products/service"

Go to the bottom of your page to "Advertising", Then go to "manage existing ads" then see "Brand & Products" in the categories section and it has a sub section called "products/service". So it seems it's an advertising page.

All way to difficult (perhaps by design)

I would contact FB for instructions on how to accomplish this currently (It could change tomorrow)

    good luck,

    Steve

Facebook is still pretty clunky for marketers, but the concept of placing brand messages in a social environment is indeed appealing.

Perry Marshall, the guy who wrote the book on Google Adwords, and Drew Bischof have created a great package for FB advertising, and they have trained a few dozen consultants to implement. I think they even sell the training course for this on the website -- www.perrymarshall.com.

    Here's a short video that explains a bit: https://www.perrymarshall.com/facebook/fast-engagement/

BTW, they created a great checklist that compares FB and Adwords, and they have a clever online app that will assess your product/business and let you know whether FB is likely to be successful/effective for you.

Those are custom Facebook landing pages. Using Facebook Markup Language (FBML)and the FB API you can develop them and much more, or you can use commercial apps, one of the better known companies providing this is North Social www.northsocial.com

As a marketer I believe that when done with a clear strategy this is powerful stuff that can provide a much more valuable user experience especially for first-time visitors to your FB page that you want to "Like" you.

Oh, yes, this is very helpful. I just did some searches on FBML and this is making sense now. Thanks for all the input! So helpful to get input from the people in this forum.
