So tell me "Mr. or Ms. BIGG STUFF", (lol) why does geniune encouragement "really matter" to your Customer or Client?

Or on the (flip side) Why could your customers or clients really give a hoot about your encouragement?

I like flip sides because it helps me stay open to other points of views. It doesn't mean that I agree or disagree. It's kinda like the old 33 or the 45 LP, If you didn't like one side of the record you'd "flip it" (no pun intended here). Does Hallmark know something we don't?

    FOR THE RECORD...
I'm going to be disconnected from this question in hopes that it will give you all sometime to express yourselves. Then I'll be back to chime in (in about 6 hours). Yeah I know I normally chime in sooner but please "Give me a Break" even God rested on the seventh day. Oh, no, no...please don't read this the wrong way... I'm not trying to equate myself with God I just need some rest...alright. Geez Louise, some people try to put their foot on your neck every chance they get. Please just say what you will. Thanks & is there anything else I can do for you?

    Tate,

Glad you find this question interesting...

anyone that knows me knows that I don't have to have a real (meaning contrived) reason for asking a question that almost seems easy to understand.

I LIKE GETTING TO THE ROOT THAT'S WHERE I'M GOING
For me the reason why I ask questions of this type of magnitude is to get to the root, the foundation, the essence and the real reasons for why we do what we do and can we do it better.

I GUESS I'M LIKE THE JEWISH RABBI
Based on what I've read the Rabbi's were always interested in taking their discussions about their beliefs in God to the deepest degrees of discussion in order to pull out an almost invisible essence that they would have missed had they taken some previous answer for granted. I guess you can say at my roots I'm like the Jewish Rabbi and I love it!

REFINING OUR IDEAS MAKES US SHARPER, AND A SHARPER SICKLE MAKES FOR A SMOOTHER, FASTER HARVEST.
I also want to refine the purpose for what we think and why we think it. The best way to get to this deeper depth of reasoning is to engage in fruitful discussions with brainiacs like yourself and others who have answered. My questions are not for the faint hearted but those who want to go deeper.

    THANKS FOR DIVING DEEPER
Thanks for putting on your scuba diving gear and going deeper with me. I'm easy...just give me great answers and I'm happy. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. It really is worth it.

    Tate,

    definitely something to think about.

    OPPORTUNITY & CRISIS
In the motivational speaking world I have often heard the phrase "Fake it till you make it". This can create opportunity or create a crisis if this tool is not used for it's productive inherent higher good. Stephen Covey in his book "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" makes reference to creating win, win, wins for the good of all involved. The phrase "Fake it till you make it" can work wonders if one is sincere about what one does (this is the OPPORTUNITY) but if one is not sincere it can definitely be seen as manipulative and a divisive thing. And this is where the CRISIS develops. As a rule I never do anything I geniunely don't believe is mutually beneficial for others. I will not give a compliment or an encouragement if I geniunely do not mean it. I will never even say something if I'm not at least interested in the welfare of the client.

I do believe there can be some down sides to encouragement Tate.

Is there anything else I can do for you? ( I genuinely mean this question I always ask at the end of my answers, emails or even phone conversations, because I am committed to the success of any human being that is seriously serious about becoming successful )

    Bill,

I have read that book and it is excellent. Another book by Spencer Johnson "The Present Moment" is all so a great one.

    WE DESIRE ENCOURAGEMENT...
Your angle is a great interlude into me talking in depth about how genuine encouragement benefits us. Having spent over 25 years mentoring children in public schools, boys and girls clubs I have found the following to be true. We all have a child still in resident inside of us that seeks great words of encouragement. If we had a good childhood we seek confirmation of the postive things our parents instilled with in us. If we had a bad childhood we seek affirmation of the positive things our parents should have instilled with in us. Either way we need it. You would be surprised how many adults have thanked me over and over again for the genuine encouragement I share with them. Thanks Bill for chiming in.

    Your Brother In Saint Charles.

    Hey Bill,

Thanks for your wonderful compliments. You're the greatest.

YOU HAVE DISCOVERED A MASTER KEY TO THE KINGDOM OF SUCCESS: What you have discovered is something I learned from a great salesman/consultant who was the Vice President of Oil Dri Corporation of America Sales department. He taught me the power of Atta Boys right after I had just graduated from North Park University. He said this (now some people may doubt this but he told me)

"A man will work for free if you pat him on the back enough". ...Swede Roskam

    DAILY BECOME A LIVING ENCOURAGER:
When I first heard him say this I even doubted but after becoming a consumate living moving breathing encourager I've learned the truth of what he has said. The only way you will ever be able to deny the truth of it or except the truth of what he said is to live each day encouraging everyone you can.

    NOW LET'S REBRAND THE *CPE
I try to fit everything into the *CPE brand (Customer Passion Evangelist) so let's try this encourageing concept and leave the letters the same but rebrand the concept...here we go......How does

    Customer Passionate Encourager

sound. That way we keep just rebranding the *CPE for greater things. Thanks Bill You are the greatest! And you are also an amazing Branding expert in your own right. Let's work together. You build brands I encourage and motivate and create.

I believe effective encouragement includes guidance - one might encourage a person in a challenging situation to focus their energies in a particular direction. Sometimes it's not enough just to say, go, Go, GO! One might even "encourage" another to stop certain activities - and I believe the underlying principle needs to be - looking out for the other's best interest.

This takes time. In today's rush-rush world (my daughter doesn't even read email - everything is instant messages and text messages) few take the time to develop trusted relationships. Folks need to be encouraged to try innovative solutions - this also takes time - and my concern is that the "immediate gratification" forms of marketing which are so popular today make it very difficult to sell truly innovative products.

This lack of sustained dillgence and "encouragement" makes it increasingly difficult to sell truly innovative products and will, in my view, continue to result in a long-term shift by companies towards the sale of non-innovative commodity products, with the end result that the US will continue to lose it's edge in technology to countries whose cultures have a longer term focus.

    Dafne,

Great input but as I was reading your wonderful response I got this amazing picture.

FALL DEEPLY IN LOVE WITH YOUR CUSTOMER...
When people are in love the e-motional part is very important. Some people do fake their love for others (and also fake other things like their intimate passion) but wouldn't it be nice for one moment if you thought about the other person a little more highly than yourself.

Wouldn't it be nice if you became the passion they needed.

Wouldn't it be nice if you didn't fake it, if you didn't put on but you genuinely put yourself in the position e-motionally for the other person.

Wouldn't it be nice that as you moved to encourage yourself to become what the other person needed you got "Caught Up" in the passion of the moment.

Well that's what I do...and I end up getting just as much joy and pleasure out of giving myself over to helping people as I do when I'm receiving from someone who truly wants to help me succeed.

I realize that everyone will not be able to go here because some of us are still damaged internally from the negative bad experiences of life and even worse the ugly experiences we have not let go of that follow us from childhood into adulthood. But if we could.........for one moment.......see what our friend Bill Moore above just described about the note he got from his client we would all instantly become encouragers because we would see "What a JOY" it really is to give and find the truth of the ancient saying "it is better to give than to receive". I hope you are enjoying this...encourage somebody Daphne and try to get in a place emotionally where you receive the greatest experience from the experience. Why not get all you can out of all you got. Since you're going there to encourage somebody especially if you don't mean it, WHY, WHY, why not just put yourself in the postion to enjoy the moment...It really is a Mmmmmm good experience.

"TRY IT YOU'LL LIKE IT". Is there anything else I can do for you?

    Telemoxie,

My dear friend and brother. I love your input. You always seem to see something a little different and that's what I love about your involvement here on the KHE forum.

Yes you are right! This instant age makes us impatient so even if we get a wonderful passionate experience often times we don't really respect what we have just actually got. But if America moved back to the original plan, the foundation of where we were birthed out of we would began to get back to the innovative, entrepreneurial place that made us fresh. We would get back into the spot where others would become jealous in a healthy way for the products we produce. And I believe we still have an opportunity to go there. Don't you? Yes Telemoxie there is something about you that reminds me of the importance of encouraging ourselves to become our best.

It does take time and that's why we have to slow things down a little. Send longer emails, send long letters in the mail, call our friends (btw email me your phone number so that we can rap) and send handwritten notes and even postcards. These things all say WE TOOK TIME OUT FOR YOU TODAY...AND even that's encouraging.

I've been sending what I call "Opt-In Poetry" to a few of my friends and they have all loved it...some have encouraged me like My Girl Shelley a really great encourager for those of you who really want to learn how to become better at your business. Randall aka W.M.M.A., a great inspiration and also my Texas Soul Brother just all good people at heart. Telemoxie you are on to something I hope we can get back to where AMERICA stands for Freedom

    Freely
    Rising
    Eternally
    Encouraging
    Daring
    Optimisim
    Mightly

That's what America used to be about and encourageing others is the way back down that road again. Thanks everyone. What did you learn about genuine encouragement today? Have you tried to live it for at least 30 minutes? And what did you learn from this exciting adventure? Please let me know. You are great person born for great things!

    Jillc,

so glad you stopped by to chime in on this question, which should be everybody's question to answer and not because I asked it but because it is important to ask. Love your response and just would like to encourage you a little more by saying you never know who's watching you Jillc. I'm so glad that you are taking your positive thing to the office where sometimes it seems all you are ever dealing with is a problem. Every problem needs a positive, focused solution oriented encourager in the drivers seat. You always made me fill we were cut from the same cloth.

    BEING AN ENCOURAGER DOESN'T MEAN...
you're never going to need encouragement yourself and

WHAT YOU PUT OUT DOES BOOMERANG...
Yes it does come back to you as your reply proves. Keep up your head girl and do your thang...This stuff really works.

    Your Servant, Deremiah, *CPE

Jill is there anything I can do for you? (seriously)

    mbarber,

    man what are you on?

Whatever it is you need to send me some of that...can it be transformed from substance into digital form? Is it legal to use in the United States or do we have to traffic it along the normal routes?

Man whatever you're on if it is the out growth of encouragement you can send me some I'll plant it and send you twice as much back. And if you pass that on to others and they do what I did after a while we will have more genuine encouraging customers than we can both handle and as they say

    THE REST IS HISTORY...

Are you guys digging this? Great input mbarber!

Just imagine if companies, not just a few good-hearted individuals, learned to "Pay it Forward".

The world would be a brighter happier place.

    Economies would power along.

A circle is only vicious when it's moving in the wrong direction.

Payback is out. Pay Forward is in.

    So have a great day.

    Tate,

We did get off track for a moment but thanks for pulling it back in again. Your illustration is quite interesting but I would like to ask is their a way to encourage a person through

    a) tax audit...
    b) divorce...
    c) cops coming in the door behind you...
    d) STD...

    Yes there is.

    Deremiah

Are issues (a) to (d) all happening to the one person?

Or were these just hypotheticals of various potential mainly negative experiences one might face.

Hopefully not all at the same time.

From personal experience, I can tell you anyone experiencing (b) must be helped to find a way to know that eventually the pain and darkness dissipates and the sun shines again.

Each person's experience and journey is very different and the type of positive affirmation and encouragement one person needs must be tailored to their precise situation. I'd encourage any person going through divorce to seek personal counseling from a qualified psychologist to help them through.

Oh, they'll still need their friends, and some of Shelley's Margaritas, and probably some Mother's Little Helpers for a while. But the professional counseling will be the thing that helps them rebuild their perspective.

    Am I off-track now?

    Chris

  • Posted by Deremiah *CPE on Author
    Chris,

Off-track is not bad but just mean we began to move into other areas. Your input above is good. All encouragement if imparted with genuine love and concern for another will have LIFE CHANGING impact. Most people just don't know what to say to the A-D people Tate hypothetically threw into the mix above. But on another note I've found Shelley to be very calming and almost intoxicating without the Margaritas.

    Great input Chris.

Ciao tutto, Bonjour tout, Hallo alle, Hello all.

This is double D P and I am closing this question, since its more than two weeks old. I do this to make sure my KHE brothers & sisters contributions are rewarded in a timely manner, the question expiration date doesn't go bad before you take a bite out of my question, also to improve the opportunity to ask something new, exciting, fresh & Funky and to prevent that cute little moderator of ours named Val from shutting down all my thought provoking questions before I'm finished (LOL). I love each and everyone of you and I just don't know what I would do without you!
