Campaign Mail Not Being Delivered To Hotmail.com A

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I notied that email sent to hotmail.com addresses was being deffered and sitting in a queue, despite retries it eventually fails.

I have Domain Key and DKIM sigs set up on the sendfing account. I also plan to set up an SPF record to see if that helps.

There is no blacklisting on the IP of the mail server.

We do process bounced messages although it appears in the case of hotmail.com bounces these are not being set as bad addresses in the db, perhaps due to the error code of the returned message?

it appears as though most if not all of the hotmail emails are being treated in the same way.

I know that there are hundreds of reasons as to WHY mails may be blocked, I am aware of just about all of those. My challange now is to get mail through to hotmail.com addresses.

I have tried finding out why these are not being sent through by asking hotmail but so far no reply.

I would appreciate your assistance and suggestions!

Thanks

    Hi Jay,

I believe you mis understood my issue. We are attempting to send emails too hotmail accounts, not recieve mail from them. the tread on your link reffers to a different issue.

    Kind regards,

So, you have a bunch of bounced Hotmail addresses that you're still attempting to send to, and you're wondering why you're having trouble getting your email delivered to Hotmail?

If that's accurate, I think you probably answered your own question.

Aren't you getting back an error message with the exact reason that your email is being returned?

THis is a complex issue and it is important the Hotmail is Microsoft and as such, microsoft dont follow general industry practice :) THye like to mahe their own :)

So very very important when trying to send to Hotmail / live etc. (all the same)

SPF yes must be published correctly/
Reverse DNS lookup must match with the domina name that you are sending from
the sender email address MUST reflect the domain that you send from so if you send from bob.com your email address has to be anyhting@bob.com

but most important for MS is SENDER ID. You can easily sign up for this programme online. You will submit your IP addresses to MS and they will check it and send you back a mail that you have to validate. It is free to join but if you don't your mails won't go htrough on MS.

Domain kets and DKIM are not supported on MS (yahoo, Google yes).

Also very very important on MS is that you sign up for FEEDBACK loops.

Again it is a free service of MS and you can applu online. You define a mail box abuse@bob.com whenever a user clicks the 'this is spam' button - you must never ever try to sedn mail again to that user or you sillbe blacklisted.

USing feedback, your tools can auto unsubscribe users who click the spam button (same process for AOL with another sign up).

MS also offers SNDS service, sign it up, it is nice becuase you can see if your mails are in the inbox or sent to spam (right now, those mails that you are getting through are definately in the spam box so your opening rates are low).

I will be haapy to help you with deliverability issues, feel feel to get in tough if you need help matthewanxa at htomail or gamil

Sending volume mails si no easy task and it is getting harder :) they are tightening the rules and spam filters all the time so be sure that your lists are spotlessly cleana dn 100% opted in correctly.

    Good Luck.
